Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior political figure stated the attack left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
