š Share this article Jets Head Coach Glenn Confident Kris Boyd Will Make a Full Recovery After NYC Incident Jets head coach Aaron Glenn mentioned that he has been in contact with defensive back Kris Boyd and believes the player will recover well after being shot in central New York early Sunday morning. Glenn shared that Boyd, currently in the hospital, was āin good spiritsā during their latest talk. āThat gives me comfort, is that heās feeling positive,ā Glenn stated on Wednesday. āHis wife and his kid, they are holding up and he will walk away from this just fine.ā The coach did not know when Boyd would leave the hospital, where he is reported as critical but stable. āDonāt know just yet,ā the coach said. āYet I must mention, from our conversation, he seemed very positive. Furthermore, thatās what gives me comfort, that he feels like that and he expresses himself so positively.ā New York police released security footage earlier this week of a man sought in the incident involving Boyd. A motive for the shooting remains under investigation and officials stated it remains uncertain if Boyd was targeted. No one else was hurt as confirmed by officials. The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning near Madison Square Garden and the bustling tourist spot. Boyd, in his late twenties, was transported to a medical center after being shot in the abdomen, police said. The assailant escaped. Glenn mentioned Boyd has occupied his thinking āa great dealā since the news broke. Glenn added that Boyd and his wife just had a baby. āThe first thing I thought about, he has a new baby,ā Glenn remarked. āAnd Iām thinking about his wife, Iām thinking about his kid and I want to make sure that heās OK. And thatās the only thing that really went through my mind. āThere is a procedure involved, that I wonāt detail, but I am pleased that his outcome looks very positive.ā Boyd hasnāt played during the current season, after joining the team, after being placed on injured reserve on August 18 with a shoulder issue that involved surgical repair. Boyd came to New York as a free agent in spring and was projected as an important component of a revamped special teams unit under the coach and special teams coordinator the special teams coach. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury during a practice session on August 2 and was taken away on a cart. Boyd has remained around the team all season long while working his way back. āHeās been a part of what weāre doing,ā Glenn commented. āCertainly, he is a regular at our matches. He is completely involved. As one of the leagueās best on special teams, he has excelled at supporting his teammates.ā Boyd, hailing from the Lone Star State, spent his initial four years with Minnesota after his selection in the later rounds by Minnesota out of UT in the 2019 draft. He later played for Arizona in 2023 and then joined Houstonās practice squad after that. Boyd agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.6m with the Jets in the spring.
