R360 League Players Subject to 10-Season Suspension from NRL

The NRL's administration has announced that participants who join the “rebel” R360 will be banned for 10 seasons.

R360, scheduled to begin in 2026, is seeking to lure athletes from both codes with substantial agreements and a slimmed-down playing schedule.

Leading National Rugby League athletes have reportedly received offers by the breakaway group, which will involve six to eight men's clubs and four women's sides located in large metropolitan areas around the world.

The Samoan Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who represents his NRL club in the NRL, has stated he has had talks with R360.

Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Payne Haas and Gray are also reported to be thinking about signing R360.

Several leading union countries, including Australia, earlier announced a restriction on athletes signing with R360 playing global fixtures.

“We heard our clubs and we've acted decisively,” stated the league's chief the official.

“Regrettably, there will continually be entities that seek to pirate our game for economic benefit.

“They don't invest in pathways or the development of players. They only leverage the hard work of others, jeopardizing careers of economic hardship while profiting themselves.

“In truth, they represent, imitating the sport.”

The organization is launched by ex-England star Tindall and supported by independent financiers.

Following the prospective rugby union bans were announced last week, it said: “We aim to collaborate together as integrated into the global rugby calendar.

“The event is arranged with customized calendars for both genders and the organization will release all players for international matches, as included in their deals.”

The breakaway group will seek approval for its proposals from the international authority, the sport's governing body, at its board session next year.
