Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase like this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
